How to Set Up Your Comcast Email Address with an Email Program
Ready to start using your email from Comcast? No problem. Our Xfinity Connect web-based page and app are prepared to use. But if you prefer to use an email program instead, you will have these settings running in no time.
If you have questions about your program or email client, we have covered you. Just go to the links and select your program. Comcast can no longer support the use of port 25 for sending email to ensure the safety of our network and customers. You may be able to submit your email with an elderly email client (Outlook Express, Outlook, Mac Mail etc.). Find out more about port 25.
Use these settings when your program asks you to configure your email to connect your Comcast email:
Income Mail Server Name: imap.comcast.net.
Port number of incoming mail server: 993 with SSL ON.
o If necessary: 143 SSL ON.
Mail Server outgoing Name: smtp.comcast.net.
Port number of Outgoing Mail Server: 587 (SMTP).
o If necessary: 465 (SMTPS).
SSL Encryption: verified.
Authentication: type the username and password of your Comcast
Email Setup: Port Numbers and POP vs IMAP
When you set your e-mail account, the program will ask for information on “protocol” e-mail. Here are a few things that you need to know as part of your setup:
Port Numbers: your e-mail port is the way e-mails move from one e-mail server to another. E-mail Setup: Port Numbers vs. IMAP. We no longer support port 25 to protect your security and prevent spam. You may have problems sending an email if you use an older email program like Outlook Express, Outlook, or Mac Mail. Find out more about port 25.
POP vs. IMAP:The following are two different ways to receive email from your email programme: POP (Post Office Protocol) and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol). For your Comcast email, we suggest using IMAP. When checking your mail from more than one phone or laptop, POP can cause issues. IMAP makes it simpler to sync your email from various devices when you check it.
But if you still want to use POP, use the following configurations in your email program:
Incoming Mail Server Name: pop3.comcast.net
Incoming Mail Server Port Number: 995 (POP3 with SSL)
Port 110 of the incoming mail server is no longer endorsed. Please ensure that port 995 is used instead. This can be checked in the Settings, Advanced Settings or Preferences menu of your email program.
